Welcome to my web site. You will find my photography from 1972 to the present.
As a photographer, my early inspiration was primarily from the photographers who lived at the turn of the 20th century. Edward Steichen is my favorite photographer, favoring his early work. Other photographers of that period that influenced me were: Gertrude Kasebier, Alfred Stiegliz, Clarence White, Craig Annan, Jacques Henri Lartigue. Later photographers that were inspiring to me were Ansel Adams, Ernst Haas, Yoshikatsu Shirakawa, Sarah Moon and Joseph Sudek.
The background music for this site is a song that I composed myself, titled "Deya" from my CD "Deya's Dream. I thank you for looking at my work.
Since 1974, I have been a professional photographer. As photographers, we are so lucky to work with a little machine that will record our visions and thoughts. Photography becomes an insatiable pastime that keeps us thrilled.
My work is broadly based, because so much of the world fascinates me. In the beginning, I studied the great photographers of the 19th and 20th centuries. After awhile, from intensely studying their photographs; I began to see the world through their eyes and therefore honed and sharpened my own eyes, creating my own style.
Later, I turned my learning towards the technical side of photograph. Most helpful was reading Ansel Adams' Basic Photo Series and learned the Zone System. After learning it, I could put almost any situation on film.
This website covers a lot of years. Building this site was the single biggest project of collecting, retouching and displaying of my photography, that I have attempted. I hope you enjoy it.
