Since 1974, I have been a professional photographer. As photographers we are so lucky to work with a little machine that will record our visions and thoughts. It becomes an insatiable hobby/profession that keeps us endlessly thrilled with the joy of creating so many different types of photos. My work is broadly based because so much of the world, it's different places, people, animals, insects and things are fascinating to me. In the beginning I studied the great photographers, from the 19th and 20th centuries. I read Ansel Adams Basic Photo Series and learned his Zone System. That was the single most helpful effort I made for my technical side of photography, because after learning it I found that I could put just about any situation before me on film. Then by studying the works of the Masters of Photography I was able to see the world through their eyes and therefore honed and sharpened my own.
Some of the photographers who inspired me were Edward Steichen, Alfred Stiegliz, Julia Margaret Cameron, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Ernst Haas, Yoshikazu Shirakawa, Ansel Adams, Sarah Moon and David Hamilton, Their grasp of the medium still leaves me in awe.
This website covers a lot of ground. It is the single biggest project for collecting, retouching and displaying of my photography from four decades that I have attempted. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to contact me is you have any comments or questions.
